It is nearly impossible to categorize Erik or his wines. A radical and enigmatic personality, and an artist in the truest sense of the word.

Between 2011-2021, Laboratorio Rupestre produced wines in near obscurity and isolation, in the middle of the barren Spanish landscape. The full scope of his work, will maybe never be broadly understood, but his wines will stand as some of the most singular and radical examples of the past decades.

You feel everything at once when you encounter Erik’s wines. History, time and tradition, and you taste the earth, the rocks, the air, and the environment. Extreme in style, his wines are a dense concentration of the elements presented through the juice of grapes and historic vines.

Upon losing access to many parcels being bought up and torn out in the surrounding area, Erik decided to uproot from Yecla. After stopping in France and Switzerland, he has returned home to his native Sweden. It’s likely these are the very last of the wines he produced.
